Welcome to Noble Team- UPDATED

UPDATED: I’ve added a few more shots and notes to the breakdown now that the extended version of the trailer has been released. Some shots will be out of order due to the additions.

By now, you’ve no doubt seen the new live-action trailer promoting the upcoming Beta for Halo: Reach, and if you’re like me, you drooled over every frame. As I watched it, I felt like I had to write up a break-down in the vein of my “Brothers” break-down for the recent Gears of War 3 trailer. Welcome to Noble Team.

Six Questions with Steve Artlip

I’ve only worked with Steve Artlip on a few occasions, but his name comes up in every gaming community conversation I have. He’s hosted his own podcasts, launched a successful community of other people’s videogame podcasts, and spoken on community panels at gaming conventions like the Penny Arcade Expo.  Today, he’s answering six questions.

The Formula for the Perfect Little Soldiers

A while back, you may have seen a little illustration I did of the Master Chief inspired by the Power Puff Girls. See, I was a big fan of the PPG back in the days, to the point of owning the DVD’s. My daughter loves to watch them now, and while I was watching over her shoulder, I thought it would be funny to draw the Chief that way. I sketched a couple doodles on a notepad, then took it a little further. Well, once I had the bug in my brain, I couldn’t let it go. So without further ado, meet…

Six More Tips for Community Site Leaders

Last week, I posted six tips for community site leaders, and the response from you guys was great. To that end, I’ve decided to try to make this a weekly feature. For the uninitiated, here’s the jist: I get asked questions from folks about what they can do to make their site better. I’ve been on both sides of the community fence, so I try to take every opportunity to share the things I wish I knew back when I was starting my site. To that end, here’s a list of six tips for running a better community site.

Six Questions with Danny Pena

I first met Danny Pena, better known in the gaming community as “Godfree”, almost four years ago. As I was working on building up my community leader rolodex, Danny was recommended to me by fellow EALA Community Manager Aaron Kaufman (@EA_APoc). Back then, Danny was really just getting started with his Hip-Hop/Gaming-fusion podcast, Gamertag Radio, but he already stood out as one of the most interesting characters on the Xbox360 community. Over the last four years, he and his dedicated staff have built the site into one of the most recognized videogame news sources around. Today, he’s answering six questions.

The Only Xbox Community Site You’ll Ever Need?

I remember when I started doing community management, there was a pretty small handful of sites to work with plus a few up-and-comers on their heels. Since that time, just a few years ago, the Xbox360 web community has utterly exploded with blogs, sites, podcasts and more. Many users likely just pick a community or two to be a part of. For some, and especially for those of us that try to keep our eyes on the entire community, it can be a daunting task to keep up with all of the new sites out there. But there’s one site that has the potential to change all that.

Six Tips for Community Site Leaders

I spend a lot of my time talking with gaming community site leaders outside of my work roles, and more often than not, I get asked questions from folks about what they can do to make their site better. I’ve been on both sides of the community fence, so I try to take every opportunity to share the things I wish I knew back when I was starting my site. To that end, here’s a list of six tips for running a better community site.

Brothers To The End.

Last night we all got our first legitimate look at what Gears of War 3 might have to offer. I spent the evening speculating on Twitter about what the story might bring us, and decided to compile several of my thoughts here. In the interest of full disclosure, when I was working on Gears I was focused on launch and post-ship support for Gears 2 primarily. I knew that a Gears 3 would be coming, but that’s about the extent of the knowledge I have on it. Any speculation from me about the game is just that – speculation. I’m just along for the ride, and planning on enjoying every minute of it. So now that that’s out of the way, here’s what the trailer got rolling around inside my brian…

Only Mildly Threatening

I was just digging through some old emails, and I found this little beauty. Back in 2008 when I was leaving EALA to go up to MGS and work on Gears of War, one of the Medal of Honor concept artists, Toby Wilson, drew this little charicature of me in COG armor. The hat is one of our Medal of Honor Airborne ball caps, and it was a staple of my wardrobe while at EA.

Charicature of Justin Korthof as a Gear

Thanks, Toby!
